The origins of life and human existence have been obscured by time and is shadowed behind a veil of mythology. The myth of Eden and man's fall from the garden of bliss has always fascinated me. I incorporated universal symbols obtained from various myths such as the tree of knowledge and the serpent consuming itself which represents perpetual life through the casting-off of death. Also depicted are the animals which are associated with ancient nomadic hunters and the fruits and vegetables associated with the modernization of agriculture. The focal point of this illustration is the burning heart symbolizing suffering and desire which opens the eyes of man to truth, fear and wisdom. Overlooking the scene is the ever watching eye of the creator whose tear-drop falls to the womb of mother earth providing the seed of life.
